Permanent Hiatus

Dear Readers,

Due to family and career commitments I can no longer commit to what this blog requires me. I will be stepping away from social media as well in order to work on what is most important to me.

Thank you for all your support of this blog over the years but I will now be putting my writing on indefinite hiatus. I may come back one day, but not in the near future.

Feel free to leave comments on this post if you want to get in contact. I'll still get the notifications in my mail box.

Update 31/07
I thought I owed you more of an explanation. This blog is a great source of joy for me, I love sharing information about the Dragons with all of you and I love having a platform where I can talk about my favourite team. However, it is no more than a hobby. I don't have any expectations or illusions about doing this for money or it leading to some dramatic career change in the future.

Given my desire for perfection and want to supply something that's near a quality I'm happy with, my life priorities have become a bit unbalanced. I quite honestly spend a bit too much time thinking about and looking up what's going on with the team and too much time thinking up blog posts, let alone writing them. It has clouded my priorities.

As a family man, my time is limited. I work full-time, I take care of my wife and daughter and I otherwise need to look at improving on my career prospects. I quite honestly don't have the time to do all that and this blog at the present moment in time.

I hope that at some point I can come back, and I would still like to cover the draft in October if I can, but I can't really guarantee anything at the moment. Thank you all for your support once more and hopefully, one day, I can get back to working on this blog with the same regularity I once did.

Sincerely,

Scott

  1. Thanks for your efforts, you put out a lot of good content.
After a second kid I've hardly had time to follow NPB much less blog, I'm too busy and too tired to stay up late to watch games any more on the weekends. Pretty sad how the Dragons followed up their 8-game win streak with an 8-game losing streak, at least they had a week of relevance this year.

    1. Hey man, nice to hear from you. I'm beginning to perhaps hit that similar stage of life that you did. Life changes, eh.
The NPB is on at a sane time for me, but it's usually, dinner/put kid to bed time so doesn't fit in too well with my current schedule.

It's been a dismal season really. There's been some bright in the dark with Shuhei, Ono and Yanagi really stepping up this year and it's been fun to see Shimizu, Yamamoto and now Umetsu getting innings. Shuhei's injury really slowed us down though, he was the heartbeat of the line-up.

Never mind though, I didn't think we'd be competing this year anyway but I'm seeing positive steps so that's good!

    1. I'm alright. I just needed breathing space. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do here, but I just can't fit it into my current life's puzzle. I can barely watch games as it is.

Probably easiest at the moment to talk through here until I can find a better way to send you my email address or something without publishing it to the world.

  3. I really appreciated all you did here, and for how you made following NPB more fun for me, too! I also totally respect your decision to shut the blog down for the time being. You definitely need to get in touch with me the next time you come through the Kansai region! Missed you last time but let's make sure a meet-up happens next time!

    1. Hi Trevor, absolutely. It was/is great to have you to talk to and bounce off regarding the NPB. I would love to catch-up when time and geography allow. I've got you on few other platforms. I'll be sure to keep in touch.

Secretly I'm hoping to make a come-back and a rebranding at some point with C-DEN. Haha. We'll see what the future holds.
